Burrowing Owl

Athene cunicularia

Every morning and evening it stands at the golfcourt. It stares at me intently with its glaring yellow eyes. Occasionally it flies a short distance then perches on the ground again. It hovers and pounces on small vertebrates. Then suddenly it is gone. I look everywhere but cannot find it. Where did it go?

A few days later I understand what happened. My little long-legged friend disappeared in a hole what seems to be its nest probably dug by itself or maybe by some rabbits.
